I joined Morrisons as a trainee after A-levels, studying for my degree at weekends because I wanted to be in the work, not reading about it.
Fast-forward ten years… I was on the Senior Leadership Team – accountable for Market Street operations across 500 sites and leading a multi-million-pound transformation.
In between, I took a deliberate zig-zag across the business – commercial, people, operations, transformation. Building Morrisons’ first franchise model. Delivering the Amazon partnership from idea to national scale. Running e-commerce teams. Even a period as a trader.
I wanted to understand how all the pieces connected. And even then, I got it wrong. Moved too fast… Designed too far from the front line…
